Bees and Seahorses Chapter 1 (EriSol Fanfic)

    The coffee shop buzzes, my ears ring with everyone's conversations. One lady talks about her recent abortion, and another talks about her latest plastic surgery.

    I tune them up and look at the line in front of me. Two old ladies are at the front, debating whether or not to get sugar or aspartame. My foot taps impatiently, a tall man obscures the man serving them. I do hear his agonized groan though. Finally the old woman order and leave, now a young woman is trying to flirt with the cashier. I glare at the back of her head. My mind wonders to others places while I wait. I see the last image of my girlfriend, Terezi. She glares in my direction and walks off, forgetting her white cane. I try to stop her but she doesn't listen. I hear her yell and run out of my apartment, her body is crumpled at the end of a flight of stairs. My voice cries out as I run for her and fumble with my phone. The phone screen lights up and I hit 911. We ended up breaking up afterwards when I found I was attracted to her ex. My was her world blown when she found out I was making out with Karkat!

    I am brought back to the present by a young man's voice. I open my eyes and see a very lean guy with shaggy black hair. After gawking I realize it also has a purple streak. His eyes are a beautiful shade of hazel.

"Sir? Uh Sir? You OK?" The cute guys asks, a slight British accent escapes. My mouth finally shuts itself and I just look into his eyes for an awkward second too long.

"Shit! I mean sorry... I was just, you know spaced." I blush at the sound of my lisp. The guy laughs at me then smiles. My heart flutters as I try to think of something to say.

"S-s-so what do you recommend I order?" I stutter. He smiles even more. I blush and look away.

"I guess I like the cappuccino with skim milk and sugar substitute."

"I'll take it then!" He turns around and gets to work on my drink. As he reaches up for a cup on the top shelf, I see his biceps. I also examine his ass, his skinny jeans don't leave much to my imagination. He hands me my drink with a dollop of whip cream on top. I smile and hand him my money. No more words are said.

I turn and head for a table in the back corner. My seat is a futuristic space thing that really jabs in my ass, just like an alien probe... I sip on my drink and grin. This has to have been the best coffee ever. I ponder if it is because of the coffee or the person that made it. I decide on the coffee but I keep thinking about the boy. His narrow chin, nerdy classes, gay scarf... I jump when someone sits in front of me. It is the cashier.

I blush and shake my head, trying to erase any sexual thoughts I had.

"Hey! I just saw you sitting alone back here, and my shift just ended. So I thought we could talk." He blushes slightly, but still shows a strong demeanor.

I nod and sip my coffee. "Uh... What do you want to talk about?"

"How about movies?" He says his w's like v's. It is way cute!

"Sure, I guess. What's your faveourite movie?" I put down my cup and try to make eye contact.

"I like WaterWorld!" He looks at me sheepishly.

"I like that one, but my favourite has to be The Net, with Sandra Bullock." I try to look cool like him and sit up straighter.

"Oh my gosh! I love that movie, I try to watch it once a year!" He laughs but then looks at his now beeping watch.

"What's that?" I ask and getting closer to him. We accidentally touch hands and I blush even more.

"Crap! I have to go my dentist appointment is in thirty minutes! Here, do you have a phone?" I hold out my older Droid Eris. He takes it and starts to tap at the small screen. His eyes look up to see me staring. I look down quickly as he continues to tap away.

"Here ya go! That is my number. By the way my name is Eridan, it's a pleasure to meet you." He hands me back the phone.

"Mine's Sollux..." I mutter and he runs out the front door. I look at his contact, his name has a <3 next to it. I blush as I too walk out of the little shop.
